Job Description

A Project Lead is responsible for managing the complete delivery lifecycle of one or more concurrent technology or consulting projects. The role oversees project planning, sprint execution, technical quality, governance, budget management, risk mitigation, and process compliance while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to quality standards. The Project Lead collaborates with engineering, QA, architecture, and business teams to drive successful project execution and continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

Project Planning & Delivery

  • Own end-to-end project planning and execution.
  • Define project scope, work breakdown structure (WBS), milestones, and timelines.
  • Develop resource allocation and capacity plans.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
  • Track project progress and ensure timely delivery.

Agile & Sprint Management

  • Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Monitor sprint velocity and team performance.
  • Prioritize backlog items based on business needs.
  • Resolve sprint blockers and delivery challenges.
  • Ensure Agile best practices are followed.

Technical Delivery

  • Ensure high-quality technical deliverables across projects.
  • Review architecture, design documents, and technical specifications.
  • Validate code quality, architecture alignment, and non-functional requirements (NFRs).
  • Monitor technical implementation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support engineering teams in resolving technical issues.

Quality Assurance

  • Oversee QA planning and testing activities.
  • Validate testing completeness before User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Ensure quality gates are achieved before release.
  • Identify and resolve quality risks proactively.
  • Improve delivery quality standards.

Risk & Issue Management

  • Maintain project risk and issue registers.
  • Identify project risks before escalation.
  • Develop mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Manage dependency tracking across projects.
  • Resolve delivery blockers proactively.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Track project budgets and actual costs.
  • Monitor burn rate and forecast project completion costs.
  • Optimize resource utilization.
  • Identify budget risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate staffing across multiple projects.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with CMMI Level 3 or higher standards.
  • Maintain project documentation and governance artifacts.
  • Manage change requests and approvals.
  • Conduct milestone reviews and delivery sign-offs.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Collaborate with delivery leadership and technical teams.
  • Coordinate with architects, developers, QA engineers, and Scrum teams.
  • Facilitate internal governance meetings.
  • Support project reporting and status updates.

Continuous Improvement

  • Improve delivery processes and project governance.
  • Recommend process enhancements.
  • Promote Agile and DevOps best practices.
  • Mentor junior project managers and delivery teams.
