Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Protection Officer (DPO) to oversee the organization’s compliance with data protection and privacy regulations, including the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023. The role involves establishing privacy governance frameworks, managing data protection risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, handling data breach incidents, and promoting a privacy-first culture across the organization.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the DPDP Act, 2023 and other applicable data privacy regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
  • Manage data inventories, data flow mapping, retention policies, and secure data handling practices.
  • Oversee consent management and ensure timely processing of data principal requests such as access, correction, and erasure.
  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and identify privacy risks with appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Lead internal and external privacy audits and monitor compliance across business units.
  • Establish and manage data breach detection, response, reporting, and incident review processes.
  • Evaluate third-party vendors for privacy compliance and ensure contracts include necessary data protection clauses.
  • Conduct employee awareness and training programs to build a privacy-focused culture.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulators, legal teams, and data principals on privacy-related matters.
  • Support compliance initiatives and continuously improve organizational data protection practices.
