Principal Developer

Job Description

The Principal Developer role is a senior technical leadership position responsible for guiding large-scale digital transformation programs, solution architecture, and strategic client engagements. Depending on project requirements, the role may involve acting as a technical advisor to senior executives, leading architecture decisions, managing enterprise-scale delivery teams, or contributing hands-on to software implementation.

The role focuses on driving technical excellence, fostering high-performing teams, ensuring client success, and aligning technology solutions with business goals.


Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

  • Lead and guide large-scale software architecture and technical programs.
  • Provide strategic technical direction for enterprise solutions.
  • Drive hands-on technical implementation when required.
  • Promote engineering best practices such as:
    • Test-Driven Development (TDD)
    • Pair Programming
    • Design Patterns
    • Continuous Integration
    • Infrastructure Automation

Client & Account Management

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to senior client stakeholders.
  • Understand client business goals and align technical solutions accordingly.
  • Develop account strategies and proactive technical proposals.
  • Manage client relationships, budgets, risks, and delivery expectations.
  • Support pre-sales activities and technical solution presentations.

AI & Emerging Technologies

  • Evaluate emerging AI tools and technologies critically.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI for business efficiency and innovation.
  • Understand and leverage Open Source ecosystems strategically.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Build and maintain high-performing engineering teams.
  • Mentor developers and technical leaders.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and growth-oriented culture.
  • Ensure security, privacy, and compliance standards are maintained.

Banking Domain Expertise

  • Apply technical expertise within banking and financial services environments.
  • Navigate regulatory, compliance, and technical complexities in banking systems.
