Job Description

A Cloud Solution Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and optimizing cloud-native solutions on AWS (and sometimes Azure) to support large-scale enterprise applications and IoT platforms. The role bridges business requirements and technical implementation by defining scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-efficient cloud architectures while guiding engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Cloud Architecture & Design

  • Define end-to-end cloud solution architecture for enterprise platforms.
  • Create High-Level Designs (HLDs) and review Low-Level Designs (LLDs).
  • Design cloud-native, microservices-based, and event-driven systems.
  • Establish cloud architecture standards, patterns, and best practices.
  • Develop architecture roadmaps aligned with business objectives.

AWS & Infrastructure

  • Design and manage AWS-based distributed systems.
  • Architect multi-region, highly available, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Select appropriate AWS services for compute, storage, networking, and security.
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.

IoT Platform Architecture

  • Design IoT ecosystems for connected devices.
  • Build solutions for device onboarding and lifecycle management.
  • Architect telemetry ingestion and real-time data processing platforms.
  • Design OTA (Over-The-Air) and FOTA (Firmware Over-The-Air) update systems.
  • Support remote diagnostics and connected product services.

Security & Governance

  • Implement secure cloud architectures using IAM, encryption, and network security controls.
  • Apply Zero Trust security principles.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security policies and governance frameworks.
  • Conduct architecture reviews focused on security and risk mitigation.

Technical Leadership

  • Guide engineering teams during implementation.
  • Lead architecture review boards and technical discussions.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and cloud-native services.
  • Make technology selection and architecture trade-off decisions.
  • Mentor developers, engineers, and technical teams.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, Security, and Operations teams.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Communicate architecture strategies to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
