Azure Data Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer with strong expertise in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures.
The role involves working with one of our Utilities clients, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact, data-driven solutions that enable analytics, reporting, and advanced modeling.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Databricks, Azure cloud platforms, SQL, and Python, along with strong client-facing and communication skills.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for analytics, reporting, and advanced modeling
• Collaborate with consultants, analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to gather and translate data requirements
• Transform raw data into clean, structured, and reliable datasets
• Ensure data accuracy, quality, integrity, and security through validation and cleansing processes
• Develop and optimize:
  • Data models
  • ETL / ELT workflows
  • Database architectures (cloud & on-prem)
• Enable self-service analytics and support data-driven decision making
• Build and deploy end-to-end data pipelines on Azure
• Work with Databricks scalable clusters to handle large datasets and complex computations
• Optimize performance and cost management in cloud environments
• Drive process transformation, customer value, and cost savings for large-scale organizations

• Strong Data Engineering background with Databricks
• Hands-on experience in:
  • SQL / T-SQL
  • Python
  • Azure Cloud
• Experience in client engagement and working with cross-functional teams
• Ability to work independently as well as in collaborative team environments
• Strong communication, presentation, and thought leadership skills

🎓 Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in:
  • Economics
  • Mathematics
  • Computer Science / Engineering
  • Operations Research
  • Or related analytics fields
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering
• Prior experience managing and delivering end-to-end data projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in fast-paced, evolving environments
• Comfortable working with global clients and cross-cultural teams
• Proactive, problem-solving mindset with readiness to take on challenges
