Job Description

The Test Lead – Automation role involves leading both manual and automation testing activities across projects. The candidate will be responsible for defining test strategies, managing testing schedules, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring quality delivery through automation frameworks and performance testing. This role requires strong expertise in Selenium-based automation, Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and performance testing tools.

Key Responsibilities

Test Planning and Strategy
Participate in project initiation, understand requirements, prepare test estimations, and formulate test strategies and test plans.

Task Allocation and Monitoring
Allocate testing tasks, coordinate test schedules, and monitor execution progress.

Environment and Test Data Management
Coordinate with project managers to prepare test environments, test beds, and test data.

Test Execution and Defect Management
Execute tests, track defects, monitor them to closure, and generate test reports such as DSR and WSR for stakeholders.

Automation Strategy Implementation
Drive automation using BDD frameworks with Cucumber on top of Selenium.

Performance Testing
Conduct performance testing using Apache JMeter and identify bottlenecks.

Agile Collaboration
Work within Agile frameworks such as Scrum and SAFe to support value streams.

DevOps Integration
Implement CI/CD practices using Jenkins and GitHub.

API Testing
Use tools like Postman and SoapUI for API validation.

Test Management
Use tools such as JIRA and ALM / Confluence for tracking and documentation.

Team Coordination
Collaborate with multiple teams and support interfacing applications impacted by testing.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in manual and automation testing
  • Strong understanding of functional testing and UAT
  • Experience in Selenium automation with BDD framework and Cucumber
  • Knowledge of API testing tools and framework design
  • Experience with SDLC and Agile methodologies
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Experience with test management tools such as JIRA and ALM
  • Performance testing expertise and troubleshooting capability

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of Appian platform
  • Experience designing workload models
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills
