Provide technical support for international products by working closely with cross-functional teams.
Understand and translate internal and external customer product needs into engineering solutions.
Support engineering activities including resolving technical issues, creating new assemblies, and developing part drawings.
Provide fundamental engineering leadership, conduct feasibility studies, and develop engineering criteria.
Perform primary engineering analyses to recommend design options for structures, systems, and components.
Emphasize teamwork, accountability, and timely delivery of assigned projects.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Support
Research and understand product criteria including customer requirements, performance, cost targets, manufacturability, assembly, quality, serviceability, and installation.
Develop sketches, 3D models, detailed engineering analyses, and studies to support new product development.
Create, maintain, and release accurate engineering documentation such as:
3D CAD models and drawings
BOMs, ECOs, schematics, Gerber files, service parts, and material specifications
Investigate new and existing suppliers, materials, and manufacturing processes to support innovative solutions.
Design, Prototyping & Testing
Identify multiple design alternatives, evaluate trade-offs, and recommend optimal solutions.
Specify prototype fabrication processes and materials; coordinate prototype builds and testing.
Evaluate prototypes and concept models against defined project objectives and performance criteria.
Identify potential design or quality risks and implement corrective actions using structured problem-solving methods.
Work with Performance Engineering to define performance requirements, test plans, and analyze test results.
Collaboration & Quality
Collaborate with engineers, industrial designers, external experts, suppliers, and internal teams to share ideas and improve designs.
Work closely with Quality Engineering, Dimensional Engineering, and suppliers to achieve quality and craftsmanship objectives.
Support PPAP completion and ensure parts are properly released for production following Herman Miller procedures.
Project & Cost Management
Apply basic supply chain cost principles, value stream concepts, and economic analysis.
Solicit cost estimates for prototype and production parts.
Manage individual tasks to meet project budget, quality, and timeline objectives.
Seek budget approvals using established processes and comply with engineering and quality standards.
Documentation & Compliance
Prepare and maintain clear, accurate, and detailed engineering documentation (ECOs, deviations, test requests, work orders, instructions, emails).
Maintain engineering records, calculations, notes, and models to demonstrate design progression.
Support planning guides, technical specifications, CSI documentation, labeling, and marketing materials.
Complete patent disclosures and Right to Use (RTU) documentation and support patent applications when required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Exposure to project management concepts.
Basic knowledge of office automation tools, communication software, and engineering-related applications.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to apply engineering principles effectively.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and workflows.
Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without accommodation.
Experience & Competencies
3+ years of professional experience in:
New product development, or
Continuous improvement of existing products
Proficiency in Creo or equivalent 3D CAD software.
Strong capability in producing accurate and detailed engineering drawings.
Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
Ability to take initiative, assume ownership, and deliver quality results on time.
Strong analytical, lateral-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
