Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance.
- Masters in Commerce
Experience:
- 4 to 7 years of experience in accounting and finance roles.
- Experience in the insurance broking or financial services industry is preferred.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Tally, MS Excel, and other accounting/ERP software.
- Working knowledge of taxation and statutory compliance.
- Familiarity with IRDAI regulations and insurance industry practices.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Job Purpose:
To support and manage the financial operations of the insurance broking firm by handling day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, finalisation of accounts, statutory compliance, and ensuring timely reconciliations and reporting in accordance with regulatory and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Bookkeeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts, including general ledger, payables, receivables, and journal entries.
- Reconcile client accounts, insurer accounts, and bank accounts regularly.
- Oversee premium collections, commission tracking, and ensure proper recording of transactions.
- Manage inter-branch or inter-company accounting if applicable.
Accounts Finalization:
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare and finalize trial balance, profit & loss account, and balance sheet.
- Ensure appropriate provisioning, accruals, and adjustments during closing periods.
- Coordinate with statutory auditors and ensure timely finalization of financial statements as per applicable accounting standards.
- Maintain fixed asset register and ensure proper depreciation accounting.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and regulatory bodies.
- Assist in variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting exercises.
- Provide timely and accurate MIS reports to senior management.
Statutory & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all statutory filings such as GST, TDS, income tax, and professional tax.
- Prepare documentation and schedules for audits (statutory, internal, IRDAI).
- Ensure compliance with IRDAI regulations applicable to insurance brokers.
Operational Finance:
- Process vendor payments, employee reimbursements, and operational disbursements.
- Monitor daily cash flow and fund requirements.
- Liaise with banks and financial institutions as needed.
Controls & Documentation:
- Maintain strong internal controls and processes for financial transactions.
- Ensure timely documentation, filing, and record maintenance for audit and regulatory purposes.
